It’s Monday, and today I’m going back to uni for my last term of the year (yikes!!). Over the last three weeks of Easter break I completely forgot what it was to hate Mondays and here we are again. It’s so sad! However, it’s also Spring, which means we’re stepping closer to those Summer months that I’ve been waiting for ever since last summer ended! My family and friends know well that I never dress for winter, and I’m slightly (extremely) optimistic when dressing for the harsh English weather. This is one of those outfits that’s considered a little too optimistic – and another outfit where my Dad never fails to say ‘that skirt is too short!’. I also told myself I wouldn’t wear another tennis skirt for an OOTW for a few weeks yet (I have three at the moment and desperately trying to get a lilac one) but I went out yesterday and bought some new shoes. I couldn’t stop thinking ‘I need to wear these with my pink (it’s more of an orangey salmon colour) tennis skirt!’. So here we are, sporting another tennis skirt, while it’s still cold – I know, forgive me… But here it is anyway!
As I always say in every outfit of the week post: For reference, I am 5ft exactly, and a 6/S/XS in most clothing. I have a petite build, but I don’t always buy my clothes from the petite section.
Top: My top is fairly new, I bought it a week or two ago from Topshop for £9. It is just a simple ribbed white crop top, and mine is a size 6. It is really quite see through! I’d recommend wearing a very subtle bra with this one. When I first started taking pictures, I noticed that the bra I was wearing (which was a white bralet) was showing really badly through, so I had to change to my mesh bra (I honestly don’t know what it’s called – I tried looking it up online but I found absolutely no help so I’m just going by what Accessorize says about it) and it looked a lot better. This crop top basically goes with anything though, and I know I’ll be wearing it so much when Summer comes!
Skirt: The skirt is another American Apparel tennis skirt. It’s a pinky-orange salmon colour, which I believe is one of the rarer colours that they have to offer. I found mine on eBay for £7 compared to the £46 that American Apparel ask for. I’m actually quite annoyed about it though because the person selling it on eBay sold it off as an authentic skirt but I think it’s actually a fake. Very soon I’ll be doing a blog post about spotting fake AA tennis skirts because I have seen and bought a few online and it’s very annoying when you realise they’re not real. Some people have no morals!! American Apparel do not currently sell the salmon one on their website, but you can find dupes of this colour elsewhere, and sometimes people do sell them on eBay. Just be mindful you’re not buying a fake one like I did… Ugh!!
Tights: My tights are just simple skin coloured tights from Asda (I think). I’m not sure how much they cost but it’ll be around £3 or less I believe. I just decided to wear tights for a little extra warmth… I like to pretend it’s going to make a difference.
Socks: My socks are from Topshop, and are just simple white socks. They are £3.50 each, but currently you can buy 3 pairs for £8, so I got two white pairs and a black pair. They’re very soft and comfortable and I love the material of them. They’re not like thick woolly socks (most of the time I can’t stand wearing socks) but these ones are actually really nice to wear. I don’t think I could happily wear any other socks except for these ones. I know, very picky. But! You can buy them from the Topshop website if you want to.
Shoes: These are my new shoes!! I’m so in love with them. I spent an hour trying to pick between these and the hi top version but I’m so glad I picked these (or, what really happened is Tom was like ‘just get the lo ones for God’s sake! We’ve been here too long!’ so I trusted him and I was right to apparently – but don’t tell him that! He doesn’t read my blog posts). They are the Nike Air Force 1 lo, and mine are actually juniors because I’m only a size 4 in shoes! My little feet saved me an extra £20, as the junior versions are £50, whereas the adult ones are £70! I’m so happy with them though, they are very comfortable and I think it makes the outfit looks so youthful and playful! Tom said ‘you look very Lolita’ which I took as a compliment because I love Lolita! Even though the story is a little messed up – but that’s not the point!! I bought these from JD Sports – a shop I haven’t been to since I was like 6 years old! You can find these shoes on their website here for those who want the juniors (if you’re size 5 shoe or below) or here if you need the adult ones (size 6 and above).
Necklace: My necklace is from Primark, and I bought it a while ago. It’s a small and simple gold necklace with some flat-top triangle (does that shape have a name?) pieces that are smaller at the edges and bigger in the center. It’s quite an understated necklace, and sometimes it ends up hidden under my top but I like it regardless! There is plenty of gold jewellery out in every shop at the moment. I don’t think this particular one is out anymore but you’ll easily find something similar or even better than this!
That’s all for this week’s outfit of the week! I hope you enjoyed it. I promise I won’t use another tennis skirt for a while now! I might try and do a more affordable OOTW next week, maybe using all Primark clothing. I’ll have a look around sometime this week and see if I can get something more current because I never buy new clothes! Anyway, I hope to see you in the next one!
