Autumn is such a romantic time of year. If you ask anyone to picture Autumn in their mind, they will think of crisp fallen leaves, a cool breeze, hot drinks, and the Autumn wardrobe they have neglected to wear for the last year. I feel like everyone can get excited about Autumn, although for a whole lot of people, Summer is their favourite season (myself included), but Autumn still holds a special place in our hearts. I’m feeling especially excited about Autumn this year, so I thought I would make a list of my favourite Autumn essentials.
A Big Cardigan
Who doesn’t love a big chunky cardigan in Autumn? They’re cute, they’re comfortable, and they keep you warm between the transition from Summer to Winter! I’m currently on the lookout for a cute new cardigan because mine is starting to get really old. Plus, you can never have too many chunky cardigans! Not in Autumn. You want a selection to choose from, right!? Here are some of my favourites that I have found so far:
Chunky boots are always on trend in Autumn, and the great thing is that they’ll carry you through all of winter too! The colder months can be very wet and nobody wants soggy, cold feet. So a chunky boot will keep you dry, give you style points, and also add a few extra inches to us small girls out there who might need it! I have just purchased some Vagabond boots for myself, so I’m feeling quite prepared on this front, but here’s some inspiration for you if you might need it:
Vagabond; £65 | New Look; £27.99 | Topshop; £39 | Poste Mistress; £130 (£78 on sale!) | Ten Points; £119 (£48 on sale!) | Office; £60 (£33 on sale!) | New Look; £24.99 | Vagabond; £80 (£52 on sale!) | Dr Martens; £105 | Office; £65 (£52 on sale!)
A Cute Scarf
Autumn calls for a cute scarf. Even though it might not be cold enough in some parts of the world, scarfs don’t always have to be functional, just an accessory! What could be more cosy than a scarf paired with an oversized cardigan?
A Trusted Lip Balm
When the weather gets colder, lips, unfortunately, get drier. So it’s essential that you keep a trusted lip balm with you to keep the cold weather from the delicate skin on your lips. Always use protection!
A Good Moisturiser
Just like your lips, your face also takes quite a beating when it starts getting colder outside. The skin on your face is almost always exposed to the elements, so why would you not take care of it? It’s important to moisturise twice a day, once in the morning, and once at night.
A New Bag
The beginning of September means two things; the beginning of Autumn, and the beginning of the new school year. Which just begs for a new bag, in my opinion. My favourite bags for Autumn are satchels and backpacks! Here’s some of my favourites that I have found in my search for a new bag…
I don’t know about you, but I always get a massive cold in Autumn. Sore throat, runny nose… It’s disgusting. It is an especially sad time if you’re a singer like me, and need your nose and throat in the best condition as it possibly can be! Luckily there’s tons of coffee shops dotted around Manchester, so whenever my throat is feeling sore, I’ll pop to my nearest Starbucks/Costa and get a hot drink to soothe it. My biggest and only two recommendations (as someone who doesn’t really like coffee or drink hot drinks) is the Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks, or my absolute favourite hot drink; a Costa Hot Chocolate! You really can’t go wrong with these two options.

A New Book
With Autumn comes a new school year, and I love to buy some fresh new notebooks for the new school year! There are honestly so many places that sell stationary, so I won’t bother linking any here, but my favourite places to buy notebooks are Paperchase and WHSmith! This year, I ended up buying all of my books from WHSmith because they had such cute animal designs, and I wasn’t really into most of the designs at Paperchase this Autumn.
If you’re like me and basically wear skirts year-round, whatever the weather, you’re going to need some fresh new tights. You can’t go wrong with natural tights and sheer black tights, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try something different! Primark have a massive selection of patterned tights if you want to go with black but also want an added twist, or you could buy some coloured opaque tights, or woolly tights… The possibilities are endless!
An Autumn Themed Perfume
Perfume is so important to me, and a nice seasonal perfume for Autumn/Winter is something I am unfortunately lacking! Scents are so powerful, and can transport you to any particular time or moment in your life when that perfume was first used, used importantly, or used constantly. I feel that the power of fragrance is a power that is unrivaled by anything else. Keep your fragrances close to your heart.
Lancome La Vie Est Belle; £45; 30ml | Dior Pure Poison; £52.50; 30ml | Chanel No. 5; £68; 50ml | Chanel Coco Mademoiselle; £67.50; 50ml | Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb; £69; 50ml | Tom Ford Santal Blush; £133.20; 50ml | Louboutin Tornade Blonde; £215; 80ml
I hope this post left you feeling inspired! Once again, sorry for being inactive (again), but I promise you, I am working on it. Please feel free to leave some requests in the comments, and I’ll see you in the next one! ❤
